AI Text Polisher is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome/Edge extension.

Data Collection

We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not have servers.

What We Store Locally

The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's sync storage:

API Configuration: Your API URL, API key, and model name
Custom Actions: Your custom action names and prompts

All data is stored locally in Chrome's sync storage and synced across your devices via Chrome Sync (if enabled). We never have access to this data.

Third-Party Services

When you use AI Text Polisher to process text:

Selected text is sent directly from your browser to your configured AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or your custom endpoint)
We do not intercept, store, or have access to this data
Please review your AI provider's privacy policy for how they handle data

API Keys

Your API keys are:

Stored locally in your browser's encrypted storage
Never transmitted to us or any third party (except your chosen AI provider)
Only accessible by the extension on your device

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

contextMenus

To add the "AI Text Polisher" option to your right-click menu.

storage

To save your settings (API configuration and custom actions) locally in your browser.

notifications

To show you status updates when processing text (e.g., "Processing...", "Success!").

activeTab

To access the text you have selected on the current webpage.

scripting

To copy the AI-processed result to your clipboard.

clipboardWrite

To explicitly declare clipboard write capability for transparency.

host_permissions (<all_urls>)

To communicate with your configured AI provider endpoint, which can be any URL you specify.

Data Security

All settings are stored using Chrome's built-in encrypted storage
Communication with AI providers uses HTTPS
No data is transmitted to our servers (we don't have any)

AI Text Polisher is open source. You can review the complete source code on GitHub to verify our privacy claims.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
